What's in the new Hot Wheels Formula 1 set?
The latest wave of the new Hot Wheels Formula 1 cars have landed in New Zealand stores. This 2025 series from Hot Wheels marks Mattel’s renewed partnership with Formula 1 and showcases the stars and machines of the 2024 F1 season.
Like the first wave, Wave 2 has dropped in limited quantities, with few cases available—leaving collectors and fans scrambling to track them down.
Lineup - Wave 2:
MCLAREN - Oscar Piastri x2
MCLAREN - Lando Norris
STAKE - Valtteri Bottas
STAKE - Zhou Guanyu
WILLIAMS - Alex Albon
WILLIAMS - Franco Colapinto
RED BULL - Sergio Perez

Logan Sargeant drove the Williams initially but was replaced mid-season by Franco Colapinto, who drove the final nine races of the 2024 season.
Wave 1 Recap:
Released a few months ago, the first case included:
ALPINE - Esteban Ocon
ALPINE - Pierre Gasly
HAAS - Nico Hulkenberg
HAAS - Kevin Magnussen
RED BULL - Max Verstappen x2
RED BULL - Sergio Perez x2

Coming Soon: Wave 3 (Final Case for 2025)
Expected just in time for Christmas shopping, the third and final case in the 2025 Hot Wheels Formula 1 series was announced to be:
RED BULL - Max Verstappen
MERCEDES-BENZ - Lewis Hamilton x2
MERCEDES-BENZ - George Russell x2
VCARB - Liam Lawson
VCARB - Yuki Tsunoda
MCLAREN - Oscar Piastri
Daniel Ricciardo raced in the VCARB car for most of the year though he was replaced by Kiwi driver Liam Lawson, who took over for the final six races.
The obvious question is, where’s the Ferrari and Aston Martin? That seems to have been a licensing issue. With Hot Wheels now holding the Ferrari rights, will we see a late change to Wave 3 to include the scarlet cars after all?
Many collectors and F1 fans have contacted us wanting to order, but we missed out on Wave 1 and we're not sure if we'll be able to get Wave 2 and 3 from Mattel. However, we do have orders in with Mattel for the 2026 releases!
